Painter sues Belichick firm over construction-site fall
A painter filed a negligence lawsuit Thursday against a company owned by North Carolina Tar Heels football coach Bill Belichick, alleging unsafe conditions at Belichick's Nantucket, Massachusetts, home caused a severe ankle injury in June 2024. Andrew Jackson sued Forty Five Fair Street LLC in Nantucket Superior Court, claiming the firm failed to maintain a safe work area during construction. He seeks nearly $300,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and other losses.
Jackson, who received workers' compensation benefits after the fall, accuses the defendant of breaching duties by allowing hazardous conditions, failing to inspect or remedy dangers and neglecting to warn of risks. The complaint details how these lapses led directly to his injuries. Belichick purchased the Nantucket property for $4.8 million earlier in 2024.
Belichick, the former New England Patriots head coach who won six Super Bowl titles, took over as North Carolina's football coach ahead of the 2025 season. Representatives for Belichick did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The case remains in early stages in Nantucket Superior Court.
