Boston Scott announces retirement from NFL after six seasons with Philadelphia Eagles

Boston Scott, a running back who played college football at Louisiana Tech University in Conference USA, was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round (201st overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.[1][2] Listed at 5-foot-6 and 204 pounds, Scott appeared in 71 regular-season games for the Eagles from 2018 to 2023, including 12 starts, with 271 carries for 1,341 rushing yards (4.9 average) and 11 touchdowns.[3]

Scott earned the nickname "Giants Killer" for strong performances against the New York Giants, including a playoff game on January 21, 2022, where he rushed for 39 yards and returned a punt for a touchdown.[3][4] His final regular-season game came on January 7, 2024, at MetLife Stadium against the Giants.[3]

In the 2023 postseason, Scott played in four games for the Eagles, including Super Bowl LVII on February 12, 2023, against the Kansas City Chiefs at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. He had three carries for 11 yards in the 38-35 loss.[3][5] Including playoffs, Scott played in 75 games total.[3]

Scott signed with the Los Angeles Rams on August 27, 2024, but was released on September 3 without appearing in a regular-season game. He joined the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad on October 15, 2024, and was released on November 4.[3]

On November 6, 2024, the 30-year-old Scott announced his retirement via a statement on Instagram, expressing mixed emotions including pride, anger, bitterness, joy and happiness.[6] He thanked coaches, teammates and staff, reflecting on his journey from a college walk-on to the NFL.

Scott also works as a content creator and co-owner with Dignitas, an esports organization.[7]
