Tigers' Meadows hospitalized after outfield crash with Greene

Detroit Tigers center fielder Parker Meadows spent the night in a hospital after colliding with left fielder Riley Greene during the eighth inning of Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The crash occurred on a shallow fly ball to left-center hit by Twins designated hitter Josh Bell at Target Field in Minneapolis. Meadows, bloodied from the mouth and diagnosed with a concussion, walked off under assistance before being taken away on a cart.

Greene, who secured the catch, later expressed remorse. "It's a terrible feeling. I still feel terrible," Greene said. "He hit my head. I don't know where I hit him, to be honest, but I just really hope he's OK." Tigers manager A.J. Hinch joined medical staff on the field and voiced concern. "We’re going to get him checked out for everything, but this one worries me," Hinch said, confirming the concussion. MLB.com reported Meadows would remain overnight for observation.

Meadows had started 11 of the Tigers' first 13 games this season and went 0 for 3 in the 3-1 loss. He entered the game batting .250 with two extra-base hits. Bell had homered earlier and collected two singles before lifting the fly ball that led to the collision, which sent both players' caps flying.

No immediate update on Meadows' return appeared available after the game.
